New Orleans has a huge number of symbols and a huge number of unique cultural traditions. They are reflected in local gastronomy, music, art, and original celebrations. Speaking about the gastronomic peculiarities of the city, it is definitely worth mentioning such an interesting metaphor as “Products for Gumbo”. This is what the locals call one of the most popular New Orleans dishes, the main feature of which is a subtle combination of many different ingredients.

Cooking connoisseurs often compare the local gumbo to traditional African soups, and there are now hundreds of ways to prepare the dish. Some chefs offer guests to taste the original gumbo made from river lobsters, crabs and shrimps, while others prefer to add pieces of sausage to this “sea splendor”.

For many tourists, New Orleans is, first of all, the world capital of jazz. According to one of the versions, the popular musical direction originated here. When modern music lovers talk about real American jazz, they mean exactly the kind of music that appeared in the late 19th century in New Orleans. The founder of the musical direction is Buddy Bolden.

One such surprise is the largest festival in the entire United States dedicated to the art of black Americans. The event is simply called Essence, and it is held at the beginning of the second summer month, usually before the celebration of Independence Day (therefore, the dates of the event may fall at the end of June). Every year the festival attracts famous headliners, and they have already been Stevie Wonder, Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, Lionel Ricci. Its popularity is evidenced by the number of visitors: so, about 400 thousand people become them every year. The main venue is the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, other areas are located in the Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Convention Center and the central streets of the city. In addition to the music program, master classes and culinary tastings are available to visitors.
